43 is the number of hours the 'official countdown clock' starts from before a launch of the Space Shuttle.
An American Football Team can have up to 43 players, but only 11 can be on the field at a time (I'd hate to be on the bench!)

FYI: Actually, American football teams do not have just 1 team, each team is essentially 3 in 1. An offensive team, the Defensive team and the special play team. Only one part of this team plays at any one time so playing offensive or defensive you are actually up and down off the field quite a bit.
